Ghindae is 47km east of Asmera and halfway to Massawa. It lies in a little valley that traps the warm, moist air from the coast. Rainfall is much higher than normal and its green, terraced hillsides supply the fruit and vegetalble markets of Asmera and Massawa. The Jeberti, the Tigrigna Muslims, inhabit the area. Ghindae is a bilingual town. |
